It is quite loose and neither "translation" nor "paraphrase" seem like the right term for it. I'm not sure what I think of it. Here's a small sample:
John 1:1 "Before time itself was measured, the Voice was speaking. The Voice was and is God."
John 1:28 is moved to after verse 19 "to retain the continuity of events".
John 3:16-17 "For God expressed His love for the world in this way: He gave His only Son so that whoever believes in Him will not face everlasting destruction, but will have everlasting life. Here's the point. God didn't send His Son into the world to judge it; instead, He is here to rescue a world headed toward certain destruction."
John 14:2 "My Father's home is designed to accommodate all of you. If there were not room for everyone, I would have told you that. I am going to make arrangements for your arrival."
