No. I am simply referring to the writings of the early church fathers, such as Irenaeus, Tertullian and others, that refer to it.

Which sect/heresy of this early church are you refering to, the ones that did not repent and possibly did not do the first works, and the Spirit of Christ
possibly removed the candlestick of His presence, as a result of thier heresy/opinion which denied Him.and in exchange sought the approval of men ?

No. I am simply referring to the writings of the early church fathers, such as Irenaeus, Tertullian and others, that refer to it. Early church fathers seems to be a term assigned to the Catholic sect, does the title have any value or significance as far as coming to faith , is an earlier opinion to be held higher above a latter opinion?? |

garee, I don't understand what your point is or where you are trying to take the discussion. I was simply responding to jerry's question about the
Apostles' Creed.

When you say in "general". That is vague, for all we have for certainty of the early church in general is the NT. Not all they that say they are the
church in general are the true church of Jesus.

What are you talking about? The early church in general accepted the Apostles' Creed as the teaching of the Apostles. What tangent are you going on?

Nowhere in the Bible is the Apostles' Creed mentioned. Let us not forget the true early church is found in Acts, not the RCC.

The history of the early Church didn't end in the first century, you know.

The history of the early Church didn't end in the first century, you know.I agree, we all have our favorite commentators but the church (bride of Christ) also did not begin after the Spirit of Christ put His words on the lips of Moses who recorded the first one third of its history. Are you receiving new revealtions, or are you refering to a report of history that comes from different aims a goals, according to the opinon of various sects/denominations, which I belive ultimately were designed to drive a person to seek the approval of God, according to the commandment to do so? 2Ti 2:15 Study to shew thyself approved unto God, a workman that needeth not to be ashamed, rightly dividing the word of truth. |

Are you personally writing these posts, or are you allowing a small group of monkeys to use your computer? You don't make much sense, and perhaps you should buy some more monkeys.

Are you saying that the only way we can know something reliably is by getting revelations from God?Yes, as the law of faith, that we must as Christian compare our opinion to . Is there any other way we can know if He is on the left, or on the right, before us or behind us, for us or against us.? He is of one mind and purpose and as Job says… who can turn Him what His soul desires even that He does, if it is Him that performs the thing appointed to me, I can cry for mercy as a result and Praise His Holy name for having mecy when He decides to .
History books can be accurate, or can be slanted according to different aim and goals.
Whether the hand of the Lord is creating an evil to chastise His people or to punish evil doers or a blessing to comfort us is something that is determined by musing in existing revelation , at this time period, I believe He, is silent as to new revelations . The fact that history repeats itself shows we still are under on His wrath ans waiting watching patently for the seals to removed. |

So how do you determine what is reliable history? That's a great question, would you say their is a difference between reliable, according to an opinion that would attempt not to deny Christ, in our opinion and infallible, as in according to the same spirit of faith, as it (scripture) is wrtitten?? |

So how do you determine what is reliable history?
I would say by reading and looking for other evidence to support a claim, and according to the total source of faith, make our decission, based on that faith,
as a work
