Euthymius Already a problem, stemming from the mistress of misinformation herself. But to
continue anyway....
Comparing the spiritual words of Christ to the spiritual word, while walking in the perfect law of God is the mistress of misinformation, that's a new
revelation???
The Bible is a sealed book, which is not affected by another authority from without, it defines the thoughts of Christ ,as the living Word of God, as it is written
Euthymius At least we can let the Bible help demonstrate the point clearly, even if not claiming anything regarding a "built-in dictionary". I demonstrate the point from your own citations (and when I speak of heresy, I mean the "damnable" kind):
When you speak of damnable are they in reference to the kinds of opinions that deny Christ, or the kind that do not fit your orthodox standard? Again the word "heresy" simply and clearly means an opinion, a choice .What makes an opinion damnable, is if a person denies Christ by his opinion.
Euthymius The Sadducees did not believe in the resurrection. They rejected Jesus as the Messiah. Are they heretical in their beliefs, yes or no?
Is there a reason you are avoiding the direct question… is the word sect/ denomination a proper paraphrase for the word Greek word "hairesis" or not?
Once we can establish that question we can look at we can look at those verses and try and decide if their opinions denied Christ or not.
No one is denying the orthodoxy at the time of the reformation had become completely void of the same spirit of faith, as it is written (apostate). In Mathew 16 you have two apposing groups of men who had two different apposing orthodox views arising from diversity of opinions and aims.
Putting their differences aside they came together as one man.
Mat 16:1 The Pharisees also with the Sadducees came, and tempting desired him that he would shew them a sign from heaven.
