the material in "figures of speech" is not my cup of tea..... i do however use ewb's 1611 kjv Companion Bible and "How to Enjoy the Bible". if you feel that the psuedo-contradictions that higher critics cite in "refuting" the Gospel accounts of the crucifixion to be a "slight" matter, best you look to make sure your brain is in gear before shooting off your "mouth". my academic background is bio-physics not theological cemetarian. of all of ewb's works i have found "figures of speech" (for me) to be of least utility. at least read the citation before you ASSume the source. if you are having trouble with early 20th century academic english, i would be happy to clarify. anything to avoid the issue of your deprecation of God's Word. i was not calling you a name just reflecting on your casual attitude, your behavior NOT your being.... actually this is no longer a "kjv only thread" but do remember if the kjv was good enough for Peter & Paul, its good enough for me. the comments vis a vis the so-called "contradictory" accounts of the crucifixion of our Lord were better left to ewb as i am not one given to plagerism. if you cannot understand the gravity of the calumny with which the "higher critics" attempt their attack then question the premise rather than whip off a "cemetarian" wise-crack dismisal of the issue... or your attacking my non-theological academic credentials.... (my work is published in the american journal of physiology (cellular)); but that is neither here nor there as i cited them to show how utterly asinine...er i mean absurd your inference (NOT you but your inference) as to my source and background was..... especially in light of your dismissing the matter of hermeneutics (the harmony of the Gospels) as "slight".
