I find this to be an exceedingly novel idea. Does anyone besides me find this idea to be anything but absurd? When the serpent said, "Hath God said?", are we to take that as divinely inspired? The KJVO rests on the KJ men's ability to "re-Scripturize" the Scriptures. The claim is that through error and such the MS they interpreted was not actually pure Scripture, but they purified it and rescripturized it through their divine interpretive powers. 2. The KJVOs acknowledge (I think) that the original autographs were the written Word of God. 3. So the autographs were Scripture, then were lost, and by the process of divine interpretation of errant MSS, the original autographs were reproduced in English by the KJ "translators." I said in another post that the KJVOs believe that the Word of God was taken up into heaven for a time and then descended again in English for the KJ men to "translate." My assertion was derided, but the picturesque analogy is difficult to avoid, outside of plugging one's ears, shutting one's eyes, stamping one's feet and fideistically crying out, "I know I'm right! This theory is apparently the king domino upon which his house of fideism "stands." Because they love to shift the burden of proof on to us, not wanting to accept that it's up to them to prove their claim that the KJV is God's Only Word. Frankly I do not believe they are interested in any proof of anything, proof of their position, proof of our position, or proof of anything else for that matter. Their game is simply to make wild assertions and then keep making the same assertions over and over and over and over again, not once ever offering any defense or proof. As one KJVO recently said, Doubting Thomas wanted proof too. And that proof was forthcoming, wasn't it! Let me explain: What was the "original" ten commandments? 1) The tablet written by God which Moses broke? 2) The tablet written by God that Moses kept? 3) What Moses wrote on papyrus? 4) What Jesus quoted of them? 5) What Paul quoted of them? Which is the original? 1) Jeremiah's original writings that were sliced with Jehudi's penknife? 2) Jeremiah's replacement with words added that was later thrown in the river? 3) Jeremiah's third copy, that we assume was the one we have copies of today? Prov 25:1 These are also proverbs of Solomon, which the men of Hezekiah king of Judah copied out. What are the scriptures here? Not the originals, it was the copies. Are you saying that, at least in some instances, the original autographs were not inspired by God, but that the copies of those autographs WERE inspired? Perhaps you are not saying that, perhaps I misunderstood. If so, please have the patience to explain to me what you actually mean to say. I wonder why the person who first made the claim will not come here and discuss it with us.
