Re: THANKS | ||

Shoot, I didn't even think about the font issues of sharing a .doc file.
Turns out they are KoineTT and HebrewZ, both copyright by Zondervan so I can't share the font files. I'll have to see if I can find a way to easily convert them to use a freeware or a system font instead. In the meantime, what I can do is generate a .pdf of that .doc file, so the Hebrew and Greek shows up correctly without you needing the font installed. I just created one for Hebrews and put it on the site. I'll get around to doing this for the others in the next few days as a temporary solution. |

Oh man. Last time I looked at this page, there was a partial copy of The Historic Faith. Here I was thinking you had abandoned the page, and in reality you've been working overtime!
BTW, on the font issue, BibleWorks makes its Greek and Hebrew fonts available for non-commercial use, if you don't mind giving them credit. Take care,

Epistle to the Hebrews | ||
|
Awesome, Brian. I downloaded the pdf on the Epistle to the Hebrews and have not looked through the whole thing, but you should look at your spaces and pagination in pages 19-26, and 29,30. Several blank pages, and a few with only one sentence on each. How do you make the PDFs? What program? |

Greek font | ||
|
I downloaded the Epistle to the Hebrews doc file, and the Bibleworks Greek font does not work for all the glyphs. I did find a free Greek font that works, "Koine Italic" at this link: www.leaderu.com/ssi-hf/koinefont.html I haven't tried the Hebrew yet. |

I'm sure it would work fine as a starting point, though not as a drop-in replacement for some other font. I don't know whether there is any standard keyboard mapping for Greek fonts. Bwgrk is pretty widely used on the Internet, though. Take care,

Were these docs already typed with those fonts? Because one really should use Unicode fonts; then the end user can take their pick of any number of polytonic Unicode fonts, and they all would work for every glyph, provided they are unicode. |

Re: fonts | ||

Yes, they were already typed out with that font. If I can figure out how to globally change the font to a unicode font that supports Greek, I will do that. Good thing I'm a programmer, I may have to parse and regenerate the .doc file format itself...

PrimoPDF
www.primopdf.com/ It's a sweet little freeware tool that adds a fake "printer" to your system that generates .pdf files instead of printing them out on a real printer. In other words, once it is installed, you can print from any application that prints (Word, web browser, anything) and then just switch from your default printer to the "PrimoPDF" printer right before you print. It will then ask you for a file name, quality and other info, and voila! |

SIL has the macros already done
|
Go to SIL.org/computing and they have a couple programs that will globally change the fonts for you. One I think is called Consistent Changes (that is the older one; I think even works on 8mhz Macs) and they have another one called TecKit or something like that. |

I have PrimoPDF, but...
|
I also have PrimoPDF, but maybe you need to tweak the settings a little. It does make nice small, slim PDFs. I now have Word 2007, and you can "save as PDF" with it. You can also choose levels of quality and size with it. |

Re: Primo PDF | ||

Question: when using the Primo PDF to produce documents in that format, does it leave a "watermark" across the page or a product name at the bottom of each page as I have seen in some other PDF products?
I know the PDF995 from the Celiac Sprue Foundation does none of those things, but wonder whether Primo is superior in any particular way. |

Awesome, thanks - I'll look into that!

No watermarks.

watermarks etc | ||

PrimoPDF is free, and it does not leave watermarks. I don't think it even installs spyware or adware like many free apps do. But if you do install it, I would still use the several adware removers to scan and make sure. My Johannine Comma PDF was made with PrimoPDF. You can check to see any marks. That PDF is pretty corrected and accurate now: www.bibletranslation.ws/t...nCh5v7.pdf |

Re: PrimoPDF | ||

Regarding PrimoPDF, I should also add that one of its main limits from my perspective it that it only works for smaller documents. But when I try to use it for some of my larger documents, like 9 MB Word documents, it freezes up; probably runs out of memory. I suspect that for medium documents, when it does not run out of memory but kind of hiccups, that there would be pagination blips and things like that, but I don't know for sure. So, to be safe, I use PrimoPDF only for small docs from like 1 to 10 pages or so. |

Brian, thank you very much for supplying us with this excellent resource! It's now so much easier to verify the misquotations of GAR and expose them to the world!
