That's easy: both are an allegory: the antennae (donated by Ray Walston) symbolize the reception of "new revelation" by the non- or anti-orthodox, and the scissorhands symbolize the slash and dash attacks made by non-orthodox posters....

(And some people thought Paul's use of Sinai as an allegory was the height of such examples)

No, I surely didn't know that. Words have meaning: when someone says the OT is purely allegory and comparable to Grimm's Fairy Tales, I take that to mean they believe the OT is purely allegory and comparable to Grimm's Fairy Tales. I don't see such a statement as meaning there are things in the OT that foretell the coming of the Messiah.

And for the record, until now I've never known of someone who considered themselves a genuine Christian who considered the OT to be "purely allegory". Some certainly see a few select passages as possibly allegorical (e.g. a fair number think the book of Job was perhaps allegorical, and some others think the seven days of creation are not...
