I am involved in a sometimes-heated discussion with a gent who is both a Modalist and a KJVO. I tried to get him to come here, by email, but he's apparently read this site because he had some unkind things to say about it in his reply.

This dude bears out a fave statement of mine, that false breeds false. Anyone wishing to jump in here's the URL:

1769 KJV editor's work

Benjamin Blayney (1728-1801) was the editor of the 1769 Oxford edition of the KJV.

Do KJV defenders consider Blayney to be a reliable and trustworthy man in his work with the text of the Bible?

Would they consider his view of Bible translation to be reliable?

Did Blayney consider his 1769 edition of the KJV to be perfect and did he consider it to need no further revision?

Riplinger, Harris, and Hell

Someone was looking for this info in another group. It concerns Riplinger misquoting R. Laird Harris in the first edition of NABV. She made Harris appear to deny the reality of "hell" and that it should be "death" as per the JWs. This was supposedly in the book The Making of A Contemporary Translation (See NABV, pp. 291-292).

Even Cloud nailed her on this...

Changed words that water down the meaning of texts in new versions as compared to KJV; Luke 3:12 'Master' is replaced with 'teacher' in new versions. This happens in Luke 8:49, Luke 22:11 and in multiple other places. Also, a side comment, ever notice the other versions are copyrighted and KJV isn't?

Here is what I would ask a "KJV only" person to do.
Open your Bible to Ps.68:4.
There you will see that the Creators Name is spell JAH.
Now, there are no "j's" in the Hebrew language the J sound is like the English "Y".
Most of the old song have this Name in them its know as Hallelujah.
If we can believe this one fact then we can find the Holy Name by which the Savior and all the Prophets called on our Heavenly Father.
