In trying to piece together the reasons for the omission I haven't been able to find any evidence at all against the word.  Of course it is in the TR, it is in the Majority Text, it is in the Vaticanus and in the Sinaiticus, it is found in the Vulgate.  The KJV includes the word, as does the NIV. However, what happens if someone was never given a KJV?  I know many people that have been given an NIV or some other modern version from their church.
