I just wondered, am I saved or am I being saved? And if I'm being saved, what is it exactly that I'm doing to be saved since salvation is not of works? If I can't do anything to earn salvation, how can I do anything to keep it?

I was under the impression that I have eternal life (John 5:24) and that I could know that I had eternal life (I John 5:13).

Now, I don't know if this is just me or not... I used to feel very strongly against other Bible versions, but I've since had a change of heart. Some people won't read my version, so I guess it's better that they read some version than no version at all. I recently found a whole bunch of great CDs on ebay containing TONS of great reference info for CHEAP. The CDs are on a wide variety of Christian subjects, including a large number on Bible versions, manuscripts, and related material. Most of the material is public domain, but having them all compiled like this is really convenient. I just bought a truckload.
